\n \nComposition: \n \nTaxim??250 mg : Cefotaxime 250 mg. \n \nTaxim??500 mg : Cefotaxime 500 mg. \n \nTaxim??1g : Cefotaxime 1g. \n \nWater for Injection : Each ampoule contains 5 ml or 10 ml sterile Water for Injection BP for reconstitution. \n \n  \n \nIndications?: \n \nAcute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, infected bronchiectasis, lung abscess and post-operative chest infections, Urinary tract and Kidney infections, Septicaemia and endocarditis, Obstetric and gynaecological infections, Intraabdominal infections, Gonococcal infections, Skin and Skin Structure Infections, Ear infections, Gonorrhoea, Perioperative prophylaxis, meningitis and ventriculitis. \n \n  \n \nDosage & Administration?: \n \nTaxim??may be administered intra-venously or intramuscularly. \n \nFor Adults : The recommended adult dose is 1 g every 12 hours in twice daily. The usual dose in adults may be varied from 2 to 6 g daily, depending upon the severity of the infection. For infections caused by sensitive Pseudomonas spp. daily doses of more than 6 g are usually required. In severe infections, dosage may be increased to a maximum of 12 g per day given in 3 or 4 divided doses. \n \nPerioperative prophylaxis - 1g IV or IM, 30 to 90 minutes prior to surgery. \n \nCesarean section - Administer the first 1 g dose IV as soon as the umbilical cord is clamped. Administer the second and third doses as 1 g IV or IM at 6 and 12 hour intervals after first dose. \n \nFor Pediatrics : The following dosage recommendations may be used : ? For children 50 kg, use adult dosage. ? Use higher doses for more severe or serious infections including meningitis. \n \nDosage in renal impairment : Because of extra-renal elimination, it is only necessary to reduce the dosage of Taxim??in severe renal failure. After an initial loading dose of 1g, daily dose should be halved without change in the frequency of dosing. \n \n
