Description:

Imipenem is a potent broad-spectrum antibacterial agent for intravenous administration. Cilastatin is a competitive, reversible and specific inhibitor of the dehydropeptidase-I enzyme.

Indications:

Intra-abdominal infections, Lower respiratory tract infections, Gynecological infections, Septicaemia, Genitourinary tract infections, Bone and joint infections, skin, and soft tissue infections and Endocarditis.

Imipenem inhibits transpeptidase enzyme in bacteria which causes cell wall to swell & rupture and Cilastatin inhibits renal enzyme dehydropeptidase-I.
