\nUrilax 100: Each tablet contains Flavoxate Hydrochloride BP 100 mg . \nUrilax 200: Each tablet contains Flavoxate Hydrochloride BP 200 mg. \n \n

Description

\nFlavoxate is a synthetic urinary tract spasmolytic. Flavoxate counteracts smooth muscle spasm of the urinary tract and exerts its effect directly on the muscle. It relaxes the muscles of the urinary tract. \n \n

\n

Indications

\nFlavoxate is indicated for symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency, nocturia, suprapubic pain, frequency and incontinence as may occur in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis and urethrocystitis. \n \n

\n

Dosage & Administration

\nAdults and children over 12 years of age: Each tablet (100 mg or 200 mg) 3 times a day. With improvement of symptoms, the dose may be reduced. \nPediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 12 years have not been established. \n \n

\n

Side Effects

\nGastrointestinal: Nausea, vomiting, dry mouth. \nCNS: Vertigo, headache, mental confusion, especially in the elderly, drowsiness, nervousness. \nHematologic: Leukopenia (which is reversible upon discontinuation of the drug). \nCardiovascular: Tachycardia and palpitation. \nAllergic: Urticaria and other dermatoses, eosinophilia and hyperpyrexia. \nOphthalmic: Increased ocular tension, blurred vision, disturbance in eye accommodation. \n \n

\n

Precautions

\nFlavoxate should be given cautiously in patients with suspected glaucoma \n \n

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

\nPregnancy: Pregnancy Category B. This drug should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. \nNursing Mothers: It is not known whether this drug is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when flavoxate is administered to a nursing woman. \n \n
