Mometasone Furoate is a synthetic corticosteroid, which shows anti-inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstriction actions. Corticosteroids act by the induction of phospholipase A2 inhibitory proteins, which control the biosynthesis of potent mediators such as prostaglandins & leukotrienes.

Soneta Cream: Each gram cream contains Mometasone Furoate USP 1 mg. Soneta Ointment: Each gram ointment contains Mometasone Furoate USP 1 mg.
\n
\n
\n
\n \n
Soneta is indicated for the relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive dermatoses, such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
\n
\n
\n
\n \n
A thin film of Soneta should be applied to the affected skin areas once daily. Soneta Cream is specially suitable for moist lesions and Soneta Ointment is suitable for dry lesions.
\n
\n
\n
\n \n
Soneta is contraindicated in those patients with a history of sensitivity reactions to any of its components of the preparation. Like other topical corticosteroids, Mometasone Furoate is contraindicated in most viral infections of the skin, tuberculosis, acne rosacea, perioral dermatitis, fungal skin infections and ulcerative conditions.
\n
\n
\n
\n \n
If irritation or sensitization develops with the use of Soneta, treatment should be discontinued. Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids may be increased if extensive body surface areas are treated. Suitable precautions should be taken to ensure that application sites are not occluded, particularly in children.
\n
\n
\n
\n \n
Soneta is generally well tolerated. Side effects that have been reported are burning, tingling/stinging, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertricosis, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis.

Use in pregnancy: The safety of this medicine during pregnancy has not been established. Topical corticosteroid should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. However, topical steroid should not be used extensively in pregnancy i.e. in large amount or for prolonged period. Use in lactation :It is not known whether topical administration of corticosteroids could result in sufficient systemic absorption to produce detectable quantities in human milk. Caution should be exercised when Soneta is administered to a nursing woman. Use in children : Soneta can be used with caution for children aged 2 and older, but not more than 3 weeks.
