Brimonidine interacts with alpha-agonists that may reduce the pulse and blood pressure, CNS depressants e.g. sedatives which may give an additive or potentiating effect, tricyclic antidepressants which can affect the metabolism & uptake of circulating amines and blunt the hypotensive effect of systemic clonidine. But it is not known whether the concurrent use of these agents with this drug in humans can lead to resulting interference with the IOP lowering effect.

Use in pregnancy: There are no adequate and well-controlled studies of Brimonidine in pregnant women. Brimonidine should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Use in lactation: It is not known whether Brimonidine is excreted in human milk. A decision should be made whether to discontinue nursing or to discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother. Use in children: Safety and effectiveness in children below the age of 2 years have not been established. Use in elderly patient: No overall differences in safety or effectiveness have been observed between elderly and other adult patients.
